green materials

In the life cycle of nature, the waste of one species becomes the food for another. It is this efficiency of Mother Nature which is inspiring the concept of “circular economy” with global efforts put in to minimize waste and relying on renewable resources to design innovative new materials out of our current systems.

Desirable properties in sustainable materials include responsibly produced raw materials and final products which have the capability to naturally decompose and involves an easier recycling process to replace current wasteful products and processes.

Circular economy has become deep-set in many legislations from fashion to food to technology. SINGNERGY is committed to the sustainability movement by providing industries with the critical drying solution which is efficient in energy, space and time, to fulfil various end goals.

Watch how we are playing a crucial role for sustainable packaging material manufacturers to efficiently dry high moisture content Barley Spent Grains to become stable and highly consistent raw materials with long shelf life for their large scale manufacturing processes.

barley spent grains

Barley or brewer spent grains (BSG) are considered to be the most abundant and cheap resource available worldwide. It is a versatile and renewable material which can be potentially used to produce biofuels, new materials and chemical compounds, satisfying the global initiative to move towards a green transition.

We have worked with BSG for a variety of applications, one of which is using the dried form as raw material for the fabrication of green packaging products. The high quality, consistency of the dried BSG and energy efficiency of the SQ drying process is key to enabling large scale production capabilities for the fabrication of such sustainable and biodegradable products.

fruit waste

  • Food wastage is a growing problem in our modern society and still exists as an untapped opportunity. One of the primary contributors to food waste in Singapore's context are durian husks.

  • The large amounts of fruit waste such as durian husks are sent to incineration plants where its ashes later disposed of in landfills, which will not be a long term solution, especially so in land scarce Singapore.

  • With the patented SQ Drying Technology, we are able to dry fruit peels such as durian husks with ease, to convert the raw husks into dry and stable raw materials with long shelf life, to be utilized as and when required for further processes into various products.

  • It has been demonstrated that durian husks can be converted into scalable products ranging from 3D printing filaments to bandages and even to non-structural materials for design and renovation.

  • We strive to mitigate environmental concerns such as reducing carbon emissions for different applications, conserving natural resources, and preserving the environment for many generations to come.
